With its graceful Victorian architecture, Llandrindod Wells has a unique ambience. This fine example of a motor show room of the 1930's is preserved in use as the National Cycle Collection. It has the white tiles and streamlined appearance of the art deco buildings of the period.
It houses what is regarded as one of the finest collections of cycles and cycling memorabilia in Europe. Over 250 machines are on display at any one time with a similar number held in the reserve collection or awaiting conservation and preparation for display.
Opposite is Pritchard's garage, also known as Central Garage, located at the corner of Station Crescent and Temple Street. Old signs for Commer, Hillman, Humber and Sunbeam are still in evidence, indicating that this at one time was a Rootes dealership. Various modern petrol pumps are in place, mounted on concrete bases that probably featured classic pumps & globes at one time. Swing out booms which delivered fuel to waiting vehicles are still in place.
The frontage of the garage looks much as it must have done in the 1950s, and the original old wooden doors are still in use.
The building is Listed Grade II.
