The Transport Trust Red Wheel unveiling at Avon Lock in Tewkesbury planned for June unfortunately had to be abandoned because of flooding.  With fingers firmly crossed we now prepare to unveil it on Monday October 7th

Avon Lock at Tewkesbury was established by Royal Charter in 1636 and is a rare example of a lock that is still a toll station between two separate river navigations - the Avon and the Severn.  Our 'Red Wheel' is to be unveiled at 12:00 noon by Mr Edward Gillespie, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire.  The Transport Trust will be represented by our Vice President Tony Hales, formerly CEO of British Waterways and subsequently the Canal and Rivers Trust.

Members wishing to attend are advised to head for Avon Lock, King John's Court, Tewkesbury GL20 6EG but it is strongly recommended to use one of the town-centre car parks and allow 15 minutes to walk to the Lock.  Once there, do introduce yourself to TT VP Tony Hales and to Nicola Lancaster, Avon Lock Keeper.
