Make a nomination for an Award

If you think that an individual or group has achieved real prominence within the transport preservation movement, you can make a nomination for an Award.

Preservationist of the Year Award

Each year, the Transport Trust makes an award to recognise the Preservationist of the Year for an outstanding performance in the field of Transport Preservation. The idea is to draw attention to the contributions made by people who frequently go unacknowledged for their achievements in a range of activities from practical work in a shed or workshop to management, politics or administration.

Young Preservationist of the Year

This award recognises the achievements of young people in the field of restoration who have made a specific achievement in the preceding year. The winner receives a cheque for £500.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Trust acknowledges that in transport as in other areas of preservation, exceptional achievements are built upon and sustained for the long term by the ongoing efforts of a vast army of supporters and volunteers. It is for this reason that the Trust introduced a category of award for ‘Lifetime Achievement’ in transport preservation.

For the Lifetime Achievement category, the preceding year should be significant in terms of a service anniversary or retirement.

Restoration Awards

The Transport Trust introduced these annual Awards specifically to assist preservation projects that are underway but not completed.

Applicants need to show that some progress has already been made, that there is a clear and costed future plan and a realistic likelihood of completion.
